* Physically failed hard drives require Class 100 Clean Room engineering to perform ANY data recovery. DataTech Lab delivers hard disk data recovery services at affordable rates. At DataTech Laboratories our MSRE's (Mass Storage Recovery Engineers) have extensive experience with the recovery of Macintosh computers. We have proprietary technology specifically engineered for the Macintosh platform to recover from physically failed array drives, striping corruption, formated or deleted partitions and volumes, fire or flood damage, to other recovery company efforts. From multi-megabyte to multi-terabyte, if its a Mac, we can recover it.DataTech Lab offers fast and professional hard disk data recovery solutions. This may seem like a simple concept but recovery of data from Macintosh computers is not like hard disk data recovery from any other operating system. Even extensive UNIX experience is not sufficient to get the best possible recovery from Macintosh file systems. In fact there are even major differences between older versions of Macintosh (HFS) and OSX (HFS+). Any data recovery company that does data recovery on Macintosh requires a deep understanding of how these different file systems work. The relative understanding that a data recovery company has will have a profound impact on both the ability to recover data as well as the ability to use the computer data that was recovered. One of the ways that Macintosh recoveries are different from other operating systems is due to a file system structure called a resource fork.In windows operating systems there is a system level table that links files to the application that they open with, file attributes, and other information about the file. In Macintosh this information is actually held in a separate file called a resource fork. If this resource fork is damaged the file may be recovered but at best it will not open and at worst there are other files (such as quickbooks, quicken, illustrator, and sometimes even iPhoto) that will be so damaged that they will not open again regardless of repair attempts. Because windows does not really understand these resource forks many data recovery companies make the mistake of running Macintosh recovery in windows and invariably damage these forks at the system level where they may have been recoverable before. DataTech Labs has a Macintosh lab in order to provide native system recoveries as well as custom written utilities that allow for full recovery of this vital information. Additionally, data recovery firms need to have a solution that works with and protects B-Tree structures. Because the Macintosh file system works off of a Hierarchical File System (HFS) the files are laid out in a logical format that can be likened to the structure of a tree. One can imagine that if a branch (top level directory) is cut (damaged) it removes access to all of the sub-branches and leaves (sub-directories and files) that will become unavailable. Often we have clients who call us and say that they were looking at files and they just disappeared, or even that they should have close to 200 photos and now they only have 30. This is the error that occurred. One of the branches became corrupt and caused files to disappear. The good news is that generally the files are still on the hard drive and a competent Macintosh data recovery firm can recover those files. However, one should be aware that the more that is done on the drive the lower the probability for recovery is. Because although the files are still on the drive they are in an unlinked state which means that the space they are in is available to Macintosh for writing other data to. This can even be a system file called “page file” that is used to emulate memory. Virtually anything that you do on the computer including checking email and particularly running memory intensive program such as graphics, music, and even commercial recovery tools can damage your files beyond the ability to recover. In the same way the data recovery company must also have a solid strategy to protect your data from further damage and even creating this damage in their computer data recovery attempts. You can rest assured that DataTech Labs has a class 100 clean room so we can perform full disk rebuilds if required. Client Testimonials
"I recently had my Powerbook Drive fail...I thought it was a total physical head crash, and I was right in between swapping out a lot of gear and installing a Raid Mirror backup system, so I did NOT have a backup. 12 years of my life was almost down the tubes. I thought I'd mention the experience that transpired from there. It was pretty educational.
Apple was no help. Online information told me not to start the Powerbook again since the drive was clicking/clacking and grinding. More time doing that might have meant more physical damage and less possibility of recovery. Apple couldn't even remove the drive without turning it on and doing a diagnostic check, so they recommended I go to a local Mac shop. I had the drive removed there no problem. I called (competitors name intentionally withheld), which by the way, was like pulling teeth to get Apple to discuss with me and make recommendations. (competitor), wanted the main files I'd be willing to pay a full fee for should they recover. They quoted from $700 to $2700 for the recovery based on the data retrieved. I called a few other places that told me about the same. But the Mac shop here locally suggested a local company. This is Colorado, home of Seagate, so I figured there was probably some drive talent around and it was worth checking out the company, Data Tech Labs. What a great company! They don't charge for the data, they charge based on their work and the trouble involved. Turned out I just had a logical failure and I was charged $800 including an external 160GB Seagate drive with all my data on it. (competitor), would have charged me the full $2700 !! Furthermore, they do educational discounts of 15% to students and educators. I highly recommend them." J Proval Denver, CO Read More Testimonials
